You've Got Spam!

Practically almost everyday i receive spam. Be it at the office or home emails. Irritating leh. Make 'this' big lah, make 'that' longer lah, last longer lah, wateverlah..! Me? No need lah all that. Haha! Here's an example:

"Had doubts that these things really work? Check this out and join the thousands of happy men! You will have to learn to handle your thicker longer tool in just several weeks.

Women say size does not matter only not to upset you. In fact, it matters a lot! Try to imagine your totally new life free from size fears, lack of confidence and with terrific success among females."

Hahaha!!! Buey tahan leh!!

Have you ever wondered how you could get all these emails? Don't you wished it would stop? Well, the fact is, you can't stop it but u can minimize it. Most email clients (Yahoo, MSN, Lotus Notes, Outlook) enable you to block spam based on sites (e.g sex?@yespleaseatmyplace.com) or keywords (e.g viagra, harder bla bla bla). It's worth trying but it's neverending. So how do these spams work? Read on.

Somehow, you're email has been made 'public'. There are many instances how this could happen. It could be sent out by unscrupulous email providers or companies which require your email address when you register wif them (even though they may say they dun send out any information about you.) Then there's 'web spiders' or 'spambots'. These are programs which search into websites to look for email addresses and as you know, email addresses contains the '@' symbol. So it's not that difficult to find.

There's also those type of emails where you are required to send out to as many people as possible and at the same time asking for a copy (cc) returned back to the spammer. Do you noe that there are companies whose primary job is to send out emails to people? It's some kind of advertisement or promotion service gone wrong.

Even viruses cause spam! And you could be a spammer yourself!! Once such viruses are active in personal computers, they can search the computer for email addresses and send out emails in the background automatically without the knowledge of the user! Chia Lat leh! These computers are termed as 'zombie machines.' It's alive... ALIVE!!!!

Will there be an end? The answer is simply 'NO'. There's just too many possibilities and 'suspects'. The only way not to get spam is not to have an email address at all. And that's quite impossible nowadays. You can run but you can't hide.
