Go Visit Visit

Woa! I'm full after go visiting during hari raya. Always got sumthing to eat. This house eat this food. That house eat that food. Can go fat leh dis way! Haha! but then, I doubt so.. hehe (read here) Talking about hari raya, there is a kind of misconception that exist about this special day. Well, here i explain to u all ok. Listen carefully hor...

Hari Raya is not a Muslim New Year. It is actually a celebration to mark the end of fasting. And fasting is a religious obligation. A Muslim new year is somewhere in the month of January in 2007. 20th January to be exact. It does not always fall on the same date every year. Since the Muslim calendar is not 365 days compared to the Gregorian calendar which the world practice or follows, it shifts every year. In fact, there will be 2 Muslim new year in 2007.

In Singapore, the Muslim New Year is celebrated on a 'low-key' level. There is no public holiday designated for it here as compared to the Chinese New Year and the Muslims celebrate it at the mosque or at home with special prayers. The Muslim New Year is called 'Muharram.'

OK. Now that you all know what Hari Raya is, i can continue eating my 'ketupat'.
